Jessica Bartmann, PsyD

Welcome!
I am a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy for adults for a variety of presenting concerns ranging from life adjustments, identity development, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, trauma, women's mental health and more. Broadly, I utilize an integrated, client centered approach therapy, which means it is curated for each client's individual needs. More specifically, my approach is trauma informed, while integrating aspects from humanistic therapy as well as acceptance and commitment therapy. I help clients understand their emotions, break unhelpful habits, and learn how to navigate painful experiences more effectively. This is done through a balance of skill building, mindfulness, exploration, and acceptance. In my free time I enjoy exploring the mountains with my two dogs.
Education and Training
I received both my Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Oregon. Throughout my training I worked in a variety of settings, including a community based clinic and various university counseling centers in Oregon, Washington, and Utah. I completed my APA-accredited internship at Utah State University's Counseling and Psychological Services. Upon graduating I returned to my home state of Colorado to complete my post-doctoral experience in a private practice setting, before deciding to open my own practice. I also have additional, formal training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which I incorporate aspects of into my integrative therapeutic approach. I specialize in working with young adults and students given my training in multiple university settings; however, I also enjoy variety and working with individuals throughout adulthood.
Humanistic Therapy
More on My Therapeutic Approach
Humanistic therapy maintains a strong emphasis on the client’s subjective experience, insight, and autonomous decision making. As a clinician, it is my role to walk alongside clients through their own process with genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard. I value the attention to context that a humanistic approach allows by recognizing environmental and diversity factors as integral to understanding the client’s subjective experience.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as another tool to works towards understanding the contexts and the function of behaviors in order to increase psychological flexibility. Additionally, within the ACT framework, I focus on helping clients towards present-centered awareness, openness, and living according to personal values. By validating experiences while promoting committed action and self-advocacy, I am able to help clients create meaningful change.
